"We will invest more than RM 170 million to develop the Assembly Services in three years. We will improve the quality, automation and productivity," said UMW Toyota's president, Kuah Kock Heng.
Malaysia plans local production will begin within two years from now and become a form of support for the program localization of the Malaysian government in encouraging the car industry.
"This project reflects the support of Toyota Motor Corp. and UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd to the Malaysian National Automotive Policy," a statement UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd is a joint venture of Toyota, Toyota Tsusho Corp.. and UMW Corp. Sdn. Bhd. UMW Toyota also hopes this project will benefit local vendors and contribute to the Malaysian automotive industry in future.
