This is the claim from the government’s Health Secretary Andrew Lansley on his first update on how the government’s drive to save money and cut waste was progressing.
The estimated savings total around £162 million, and this money is to be provided to local authorities and care trusts to allocate however they deem to be the most efficient way.
One point which was stressed was that this extra money did NOT come from reducing services or numbers of doctors and nurses, but rather from cutting down on money spent on Admin and IT projects/consultants. Read More ..
